A chance to walk the coast, valleys and moors of North Yorkshire. The proposed programme will be linear walks and one circular walk. All walks are hilly and range from a tough 14.5 miles down to an easy 4 miles downhill. All the walks I am planning to do may be found by clicking on Details, then the links. Note the start times and dates may change when the summer bus and train time tables are published.
For those wishing to make their own arrangements and not walk every day here are a few suggestions. In Whitby bucket & spade on the beach, fossil hunting, Whitby Abbey, Dracula and the museum. Further afield Rievaulx Abbey & Terrace, Fountains Abbey & Studley Royal Water Garden, Pickering Castle, Scarborough Castle and York.
Make your own way to Whitby. Once there, except for the Hole of Horcum all walks will use either buses, trains or the steam railway. The day we do the Hole of Horcum we will drive out to Saltergate which is about 14 miles (30 mins) from Whitby. All the linear walks start from either Station Square (trains) or Victoria Square (buses).
Make your own arrangements at one of Whitby’s many holiday cottages, campsites, B&B and hotels. Please do your research as some cottage owners have an elastic view of location and on street parking in Whitby means no parking!
