Main purpose of the role

To improve access on Public Footpaths

Personal Attributes

  • Good communication skills to liaise with County Council Co-Ordinator.
  • An interest in walking and countryside access.
  • Reasonable fitness and stamina to undertake labour intensive risks.
  • Role headers should be familiar with the requirements within the Data Protection Actually and use their best endeavours to satisfy ty with the requirements within the Data Protection Act and use of best endeavours to satisfy them

Specific Tasks

  • Contact County Council Representative to arrange dates for working parties. This is usually 4-6 weeks between working parties.
  • Contact volunteers to inform them of the date and location of the work to be undertaken. Numbers vary according to the work involved. Dependant on the number of volunteers available the Co-Ordinator will rotate the team as much as possible.

Additional Background

  • Starting time is usually 9.30 am - 10.00 am, finishing at the latest by 3.00 pm and will carry on after a lunch break if required
  • The Council Officer takes a register of names at the working party event
  • The working party is covered by WCC Insurance when under the supervision of the Council Officer.
  • The Council provide mid morning refreshments. (Coffee, tea and biscuits).
