Main purpose of the role

To help people go walking by checking and uploading Group walks on our own website and also on the main Ramblers website. 

Personal Attributes

  • Good team working skills and the ability to work with leaders, other walks coordinators and website editors to contribute to the Group walks programme.
  • Well-organised and reliable with some experience of using the internet and the Worcester Group website.
  • Good communication skills and an understanding of the information walkers need about a walk.
  • A passion for the walking environment and an affinity with all the charitable aims of the Ramblers.
  • Role holders should be familiar with the requirements within the Data Protection Act and use their best endeavours to satisfy them.

Specific Tasks

  • Receive walk submissions from leaders and check for errors and omissions.
  • Contact walk leader and advise if their submission is incomplete, ambiguous or clashes with another walk etc.
  • Upload walks onto the main Ramblers website
  • Assess whether any two walks submitted on the same day are sufficiently different to avoid overlap of likely participants. Advise both leaders if overlap is likely.
  • If feasible, assist with communicating the cancellation of a walk to members in the event of extraordinary circumstances.
