Volunteers Required

Article Details

We currently require volunteers to fill the following committee and supporting roles. In addition to the brief details given below more information may be found on the web site by clicking on the Volunteer Zone tab or feel free to talk to the current incumbents or committee members. As a volunteer you can make the role your own so please do not feel constrained by how the role is currently done.

Chair Person

The core tasks are:

  • organising with the aid of the Group Secretary committee meetings (every 2 months) and the Annual General Meeting,
  • representing the Worcester Group at Ramblers Area committee meetings (quarterly),
  • identifying and approaching potential volunteers for vacant Group roles,
  • and communicating key information to our members.

Events Coordinator

The core tasks are:

Coordinating and scheduling the programme of events throughout the year,

  • Canvassing existing members to identify what kind of social events would be of interest,
  • Identifying members who would be willing to organise such events,
  • Supporting members who are organising such events,
  • Publicising the programme on the Group website.

Web Master

The core tasks are:

  • User training and advice,
  • Maintenance a list of website enhancements and problems,
  • Resolving domain and server problems with the web hosting service,
  • Provision of website content.

How these tasks are undertaken depends upon the level of technical expertise of the webmaster and how much time you wish to commit. Some tasks may be split between someone undertaking the committee role and a technical individual undertaking the implementation. If required training and a full hand over are offered.

Facebook Administrator

Facebook is an important means to reach new members. Without this role our presence on facebook will cease. Administration of the Worcester Ramblers facebook page includes posting walks, events and reviewing posts made by members.

Working Party Member

Would you like to volunteer for a work party but concerned you might not be up for the job?  If you can use any of the following you are qualified; secateurs, shears, slashers, loppers, hammer, drill, spade, saw or screwdriver.

Training may be given via the Council for other tools such as Strimmers and Brushcutters.

We do a fair amount of clearance work, however; we also fit a lot of different styles of gates; pedestrian, kissing, bridleway and radar plus installation of ditch crossings, bridges and finally steps as seen extensively at Southstone Rock and Yeldon.

The work parties normally meet on the first Monday of the month. We start at 10.00 hrs and go on till around 14.00 - 15.00 hrs. The size of the work party can vary but normally around six volunteers is ideal. You don’t have to stay the whole day if you don’t want to.

Leaflet Distribution

Distribution of Worcester Ramblers leaflets in the Worcester Area. A list of locations is available, and this occasional task may be completed in a time that suits you.
