The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a new EU legal framework which will come into operation on 25 May 2018 and introduces additional regulations for all organisations that process (collect, manage and use) personal data. As our volunteers process data on behalf of the Ramblers, volunteers are legally required to comply with the GDPR.
This means we are required to change how we handle the walks register. A new simplified register is now available on the website and should be used from now on. The process after the walk is also new. After the walk the leader emails the number of walkers and the back marker name to the membership secretary and then destroys the register.
